Position Overview
We are looking for an OSINT Coordinator to manage the day-to-day operations of an innovative environmental justice project. This role is central to engaging volunteers in targeted OSINT challenges to address environmental crimes, such as deforestation, wildlife trafficking, pollution, and corporate greenwashing. The OSINT Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting and managing volunteers, publicising the program, coordinating resources, and overseeing the logistical and technical aspects of running OSINT challenges. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with strong OSINT knowledge who is eager to take on leadership responsibilities within a meaningful, mission-driven project.
This is a volunteer position, with the potential for paid employment if funding is secured in the future.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Input: Contribute to the project’s strategic direction by providing insight into best practices and emerging OSINT trends.

Volunteer Recruitment & Promotion: Proactively recruit and engage volunteers across popular OSINT channels, including newsletters, forums, and social media platforms.

Resource Development: Curate and assemble a set of relevant OSINT resources to aid volunteers and guide them through each investigative challenge.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with partner NGOs to set achievable, realistic goals for each investigation, aligning with both volunteer capabilities and project objectives.

Infrastructure Support: Assist in establishing the online infrastructure necessary to facilitate efficient, accessible OSINT challenges.

Logistical Oversight: Manage the day-to-day logistics of running OSINT challenges, ensuring smooth coordination and timely communication with volunteers and partners.
Skills and Experience:
Required:

Solid knowledge of a wide range of OSINT techniques, tools, and approaches.

Previous experience participating in or running online OSINT challenges or hackathons.

Familiarity with the OSINT landscape, including networks, forums, and online communities.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to recruit, manage, and engage volunteers effectively.

High level of integrity, with no conflicts of interest related to commercial, governmental, law enforcement, or military roles.

Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Desired/Preferred:

Experience with OSINT techniques particularly relevant to environmental justice investigations, such as remote sensing, satellite imagery analysis, and other environmental data analysis methods.

Knowledge of or interest in environmental and sustainability issues, with an understanding of the challenges and goals within these fields.

Intermediate or above proficiency in OSINT tools and methodologies specific to analyzing geospatial and environmental data.
