Using crowdsourced OSINT to tackle illegal wildlife trafficking, deforestation and other environmental crimes

How it Works

Leads and Tip-Offs

01

Potential leads and tip-offs are submitted from our network of non-profit organisations including investigative NGOs, activists and journalists.

02

Case File Creation

We collaborate with experts and partner organizations to compile a comprehensive case file, providing relevant information, background context, suggested tools, approaches, and clear guidelines.

03

OSINT Investigations

Cases are opened to OSINT investigators as challenges (hackerthons) or on-going cases.  Investigators collaborate and compete to crack cases using publicly available information. Subject-matter experts or organisational representatives are on-hand to assist and guide investigations if needed, as well as expert OSINT advisors.

04

Action Taken

Partner organisations use the intelligence gathered to take action, exposing perpetrators and/or pursuing legal, political, or environmental enforcement measures.
